New Blogger!

Hey guys, this is INSANE. I think this will be my 4th post of the day. Put that on a list of firsts!!
So I wanted to let you know I have a new blogger friend. One of my really great friends has started a blog about her 2 girls - Emma and Elyse. I have added them to my blog roll.
Bug loves to play with "Lysey" and adores her older sister Emma too. So if you want to check out some really fun stories about 2 cute little girls, click on their link.
Tah-Tah. We are headed out to the Lake pretty soon so I gotta get our stuff together instead of blogging!

Tooth drama - over

Well, I certainly hope so. It has been way too much drama for me (and that must be A LOT because I am often noted as a Drama Queen).
Doc took me in on Thursday at 1:00 and he and his assistant worked diligently up until almost 4:30. They were able to complete the root canal and do some core buildup thing and through many processes over the course of all the hours - I have a very lovely temporary crown. It is really nice. If the gums weren't all bruised and swollen - no one would be able to guess which tooth is "fake". I do have another fake tooth - well half a fake tooth. It was done very well also. It is one of my front teeth and no one has ever noticed it without me pointing it out.
So the permanent crown will be here in June and he will put that on then. The Dentist is not my regular one but he sure has impressed over the course of this whole ordeal. I heard one of the hygienists working with a little 3 year old girl on Thursday. It was so sweet how she explained everything and gave fun names for all the instruments. It was apparent she had a flair for working with little kids.
My gums are still very tender so I suppose I won't be chomping down on much this weekend and that is okay I suppose. I can certainly "live off the fat of the land" for a few more days! But they do feel much better today as compared to yesterday so we should be good to go pretty soon.

The story of a tooth

Okay, for those of you who are around me daily - you can sit this post out. You have heard all the whining and belly aching you can possibly stand about a pre-molar tooth (tooth #12 to be exact) of mine.
Abscessed tooth - that is what my regular Dentist tells me on Tuesday, May 6th. What is an abscessed tooth? Here you go courtesy of WebMD.

Dental Health: Abscessed Tooth
An abscessed tooth is a painful infection at the root of a tooth or between the gum and a tooth. It's most commonly caused by severe tooth decay. Other causes of tooth abscess are trauma to the tooth, such as when it is broken or chipped, and gingivitis or gum disease.
These problems can cause openings in the tooth enamel, which allows bacteria to infect the center of the tooth (called the pulp). The infection may also spread from the root of the tooth to the bones supporting the tooth.
What Are the Symptoms of an Abscessed Tooth?
A toothache that is severe and continuous and results in gnawing or throbbing pain or sharp or shooting pain are common symptoms of an abscessed tooth. Other symptoms may include:
Fever
Pain when chewing
Sensitivity of the teeth to hot or cold
Bitter taste in the mouth
Foul smell to the breath
Swollen neck glands
General discomfort, uneasiness, or ill feeling
Redness and swelling of the gums
Swollen area of the upper or lower jaw
An open, draining sore on the side of the gum
If the root of the tooth dies as a result of infection, the toothache may stop. However, this doesn't mean the infection has healed; the infection remains active and continues to spread and destroy tissue. Therefore, if you experience any of the above listed symptoms, it is important to see a dentist even if the pain subsides.
How Is an Abscessed Tooth Diagnosed?
Your dentist will probe your teeth with a dental instrument. If you have an abscessed tooth, you will feel pain when the tooth is tapped by your dentist's probe. Your dentist will also ask you if your pain increases when you bite down or when you close your mouth tightly. In addition, your dentist may suspect an abscessed tooth because your gums may be swollen and red.
Your dentist may also take X-rays to look for erosion of the bone around the abscess.
How Is an Abscessed Tooth Treated?
Strategies to eliminate the infection, preserve the tooth, and prevent complications are the goals of treatment.
To eliminate infection, the abscess may need to be drained. Achieving drainage may be done through the tooth by a procedure known as a root canal. Root canal surgery may also be recommended to remove any diseased root tissue after the infection has subsided. Then, a crown may be placed over the tooth.
The tooth may also be extracted, allowing drainage through the socket.
Finally, a third way to drain the abscess would be by incision into the swollen gum tissue.
Antibiotics are prescribed to help fight the infection. To relieve the pain and discomfort associated with an abscessed tooth, warm salt-water rinses and over-the-counter pain-reducing medication like ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin) can be used.
The inflammation and pain of abscesses can be relieved with a low-level laser, making the patient more comfortable to receive the injection in a more painless way.
Can an Abscessed Tooth Be Prevented?
Following good oral hygiene practices can reduce the risk of developing a tooth abscess. Also, if your teeth experience trauma (for example, become loosened or chipped), seek prompt dental attention.
Reviewed by the doctors at The Cleveland Clinic Department of Dentistry.

OK - so that is what it is and it sounds pretty nasty I must say. So I am forwarded to a Specialist to perform the root canal. Easy enough solution, right? WRONG - my luck (if it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all...) shows up as always and the Specialist in Valdosta that I am referred to is moving his office. Yep, that's right. Moving his office - all of his dental chairs, numbing medicine, utensils, free toothbrushes and floss, waiting room magazines, posters of teeth....I guess you are getting my point right now. So, I wait. But realize I can't wait - my tooth hurts!!! I go see another General Dentist here in town. OH MY - he can do the root canal same day (Thursday, May 8th)- same appointment in fact. It can't be...this simply is not how my luck runs. Yaba Daba DOOOOO!!!!!
Hot dog - I am in high cotton now. The Dr says - whoa, you have had this abscessed tooth for a long time. There is a lot of infection and we can't close this up today. You will need to come back in 2 weeks. Keep taking your antibiotics and we will see you on May, 22nd. Hmmm...okay, things still seem pretty good at this point.
Monday, May, 19th approximately 7:15 AM - my tooth breaks off. Yes, lovely....all that is there is the funny colored "stuff" he pushed up into the shallow shell of my tooth on the 8th. Did it hurt? Ummm....yep. Does it hurt now? Ummmmmm...yep, yep.

So can it still be crowned?

We hope so. I'll know for sure at my appointment on Thursday.

If not, I may posting a story about a bottle of liquor, a pair of vice grips and a piece of Chicklet chewing gum. Ever seen the movie Dennis the Menace????

LONG day but a GOOD day

Well, the garage sale went pretty good yesterday. I was surprised though. Many things that I just knew would sale easily didn't sale at all. And the tons of clothes that I had that I thought would be left to donate to charity sold like hot cakes. I remember now at last year's yard sale (the previous yard sale I had when I said I wasn't going to have another one.....) Bug's clothes sold really well. Monty said Bug woke him up a bit after 7 yesterday morning and said "people outside Daddy". I suppose he had walked into the kitchen and heard us out there in the garage. This sale was a lot easier this time. I did the garage sale thing versus the yard sale thing. I had everything put out in the garage and shut the door down Friday night. Then Saturday morning, I woke up, brushed my teeth and hair, slapped on some clothes and pushed the garage door button. It was MUCH better than dragging out all the "junk" while folks riffled through it. That is a nightmare.

So immediately after the sale concluded, we packed up our boat and headed to Lake Seminole. Friends of ours were camping there for the weekend and we decided to zip over with the boat and hang out for the rest of the day. Bug had such fun with the kids. This group always proves to be interesting. For one, there are 2 kids that share the same name. Lane and Laine. (sigh) Poor Laine....I wonder what she thinks sometimes.....you know, as I am screaming in the most polite Mommy tone to my 2 1/2 year old wild child to do or not to do something. We try to call him Bug and her Lu-Lu, that way, less confusion.
We arrived and all piled into the boat and went for a joy ride. The kids loved it. Of course Bug was sitting up with his Daddy assisting in driving the boat and I got to hang with Laine and her Mommy in the back whereas Jackson and his Daddy were up front. Ahhh....girl time. It was great!!

Then we hooked up the tube and went for rides. Bug didn't ride today. I am not sure why although I have to hunches. 1) Laine became very interested in the driver's seat on the boat - Bug was NOT HAPPY about it. Bug is very good at sharing 98% of all he has. There are a few things he is a complete and total B-R-A-T about. Driver's seat of the boat falls in the 2%. I think he was somewhat concerned she may wind up driving while he was tubing. 2) Bug had a little incident in the water. He is accustomed to water that deepens gradually instead of dropping off suddenly. Needless to say I am extremely thankful he had his life vest on that kept him on top of the water when his feet couldn't reach anymore.

After all the boating, we hung out at the camper. They have a really nice camper so it was lots of fun for adults and kids. It was funny to see the temperment of the kids decline and the onset of meltdowns come out. However, I must brag on all three - there was never a meltdown. We danced around a few with close calls but they were really good troopers. Jackson and Lu-Lu were without a nap for the day so I must especially brag on them.

Enough yapping - we all had a great time. We always have good times with this couple and their children. Here are some pics.

Jackson and Laine - aren't they cute???

The 3 Amigos!!

Jackson and his Daddy tubing.

Laine and her Daddy tubing.

Delanna tubing.

Hanging at the playground inside the campground. Aren't Laine's curls the cutest?? I must admit when I saw her little pink toenails yesterday it tugged at my heart.

I'm not who I was

Hey Y'all - I wanted to share this really cool video. The song is great. I had to watch it a few times - to listen to the words of the song and to read the signs in the video.
Take a moment, sit back and turn up your speakers. I think you will enjoy it!
Have a GREAT day!

Lane - the Golfer

So, I thought all the golfing activity would dwindle as the week progressed. But something about it has really stuck with LaneBug. He comes home every afternoon from school and wants to play golf.

Now realize, I don't think he is the next Tiger Woods or anything like that. However, I must be truthful and tell you that it is really astonishing to see how much he has improved in the last few weeks. He will now stand at the ball all poised and line his putter up with it before he hauls back and whacks it. That is a vast improvement from the beginning where he would just run and hit the ball while it was still moving. So I guess watching the TPC did improve his game a little.

Also realize, I am a country girl and some things will never change. This is our indoor "putting green" for Bug. hee hee hee It is pretty redneck looking at first glance but once you get past all the initial one liners that come to your mind, it is a sweet little set up I think.
You have to look close - I have never claimed to be a good photographer - my picture is a little dark (to say the least) but there is an orange ball headed down the hall right for the "hole"!!
A closer look at the "hole".......yep,
those are a pair of Monty's work boots. Lane wanted "a hole" to hit the golf ball in. There again, another improvement from watching all the TPC last week. Before the hole was never a priority for him. So....how do put a hole for golf in your house??? Well, you think outside the "hole" and put some big ole heavy boots at the end of the hallway for him to hit towards. It seems to have worked. Bug will go get Monty's boot out of his closet each night and set them up. And this morning, I had to laugh. Monty wore these boots pictured off to work. Lane and I were being lazy and taking it slow this morning in getting him ready for school (I am off today) and while I was showering, he went and got another pair of Monty's boots for his hole since the usual ones were gone.
Maybe Lane will continue his interest in golf. I am not sure he will be as serious as my favorite golfer, Phil Mickelson though. I remember during one tournament the announcers told the story of how he ran away from home at the age of 3 years old because his Father was going on a weekend golf trip and wouldn't take him! LOL Now, that is seriously LOVING GOLF!!
So, just to conclude my previous post on the TPC, for those of you who don't follow golf, Sergio Garcia won the TPC. Only after a playoff though. It was so funny, when Phil gave him the trophy, Sergio's speech began with thanking Tiger Woods....for not playing the tournament because it made it a lot easier for him to win it. BTW, Tiger is out due to knee surgery.
Later Alligators!

Happy Mother's Day

I know - it was yesterday but actually I did try to post; however, our modem thingy (yes, not really computer savy) was broken so it was a no-go. So although a day, late here are a few thoughts on Motherhood.

I never knew how much I valued taking a shower, tinkling, etc. alone until I became a Mother.

Some days I want to change my "name" after I hear "Mommy" for the gazillionth time.

Crocs + 2 year old = mass amounts of dirt and sand dumped on your floor when they are removed.

I now understand why my Mom was nervous about taking me to the grocery store when I was a toddler. I was forever asking folks about the items in their buggies - sometimes it gets sticky - and now Bug does it to me.

2 year old + crackers = BIG MESS. Gracious, I despise Toast-a-chee crackers now! Those bright orange crumbs will put me in the loony bin soon.

The phrase "shut up" never sounded like bad words until I heard my toddler say them - they are now dirty words and we don't use them anymore.

Legos, tractors and plastic dinosaurs hurt REALLY BAD when they are stepped on - especially in the middle of the night.

My heart breaks when I hear "I want my boo-boo off".

Even though I thought explaining that boys have ooh-oohs and girls don't was a good idea - it seems the topic can come up and out of Bug's mouth at the most inopportune times.

But with all that said, one thing is for certain - I love being a Mommy more than ANYTHING in the world. It is my greatest accomplishment.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY Y'ALL

Learning New Things

I love to learn about new things - kind of nerdy, huh? Well, whatever it is, I still like it. Before I dated and married Monty, I had never watched golf...you know....on TV. It seemed really boring the first few times I watched it with him. But we were dating and all IN LOVE so I watched more for that reason than any other. But it started to perk my interest. Of course, I found the underdog and became his biggest fan.

Enter - Phil Mickelson - the famed Lefty of PGA Tour. Here is a picture of him trying to get out of a bunker....a place he finds himself often.

So this weekend is The Players Championship at Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach. And (to me) this course is the absolute coolest. Now the Masters is steeped in history and that is really neat too. But as far as the course itself - TPC is THE BEST!! The famous 17th Hole is pictured below.

Yep, that is it. You hit off the tee and HOPE your ball lands on this green (island) and once it gets there you then HOPE it does not roll off. These greens are like carpet - man that little ball will just roll forever on them. So needless to say, the players have a L-O-N-G walk from the 16th to 17th hole. I wish they could hook them up on a heart monitor as they approach the 17th tee. It would be interesting to see the heart palpitations!! On Friday's round, it took Phil about 2 1/2 minutes before he would tee off. He was just looking at what lay before him - even the reigning champ from 2007 is very intimidated on this hole.

But he finally smacked it and all was good.

I am still rooting for Phil but right now he is about 13th and about 5 shots from the leader. Anything can happen. Maybe all those ahead of him will hit some double and triple bogeys today and if he can keep it together he could be up in the lead.....maybe.
BTW, I suppose Lane is now interested in golf also. We have been watching each night and last night he told Monty after his bath that he wanted to watch golf. Isn't that cute?? He already knows about birdies, bogeys and bunkers. You know, we are reinforcing the important stuff early on - we will start work on numbers 11-20 and finish memorizing the ABC's after golf season is over and before college football starts back up. LOL

The little things that will drive me to insanity....

....in no particular order:

* Drivers that drive at a reasonable speed in the 4 lane but once the road narrows back to 2 lane, they drive 15 mph slower.
* Not using blinkers on your car.
* Folks who stand in line at a store and wait until EVERYTHING is scanned, bagged and totaled before they locate their money.
* People who leave their buggies (yes, buggy, I am from the South) in the parking lot instead of returning them to the designated areas.
* People who call back our work main line number and say "This number is on my caller ID. Who needed to talk to me?"
* Cashiers that don't look or speak to me during the entire point of sale transaction - much less tell me "Thank You"
* Drive thru window workers (at fast food restaurants) who DON'T give you ANY napkins.

Those are just a few!

Lane's Fav Books

So, a couple of Lane's favorite books are were received through the Ferst Foundation. This is a really neat program www.ferstfoundation.org/ and you should check it out if your child is under the age of 5.

He has ALWAYS loved this one and has had it for over a year now.

Another favorite is Rooster Can't Cock-a-Doodle-Doo. This one drives me crazy but he seems to love it. Monty and I don't fight one another for the priviledge of reading it!

$184,296.92, 2 Worn Out Feet, 1 Dirty Shirt & My New Personal Low Point

Well, as weird as it may seem - all of these numbers have a common thread.
We raised $184,296.92 at Relay this weekend - YAHOO!! It is a new record for the County. I am so proud of all my teams, committee members and community for all the support and hard work. WE ROCK!!!

So....obviously, my 2 feet were TORE UP by Saturday morning when Relay ended at 6AM.

And the dirty shirt.....well.....see for yourself......

So do I need to say, that Bug had a good time at Relay on Friday night? Monty brought him out and he ran and played. He had Fruit Punch to drink (couldn't guess it, could you?) and they decided on BBQ chicken wings for dinner. So......this is what his Monkeying Around shirt looked like after all that and more than a few good rolls in the dirt with his pals Tanner & Dawson who also came out with their Daddy.

And after I scrubbed it with a toothbrush and washed it 3 times, this is what it looks like now.

Well, I was impressed anyway.

Sunday was a day of more relaxation and a new approach on things. I could finally do some things I have been needing to do. Top on my list was cleaning out my truck. I have hauled boxes of Relay "stuff" for about 6 or 7 months. Backing up the truck usually included straining to see over boxes stacked up and the constant rattle of yard signs was about to produce a nervous twitch. But we unloaded everything at my office Saturday and so Sunday was my day to act out my plan of attack. I took out Bug's car seat, wiped down the leather seats, vacuumed out about a gazillion cracker crumbs and then....I saw it. It ruined my moment of glory. The high I was feeling on cleaning out my truck was shattered...................................

.........................the neighbor's dog was eating all the gazillion cracker crumbs from out of Bug's car seat. UGH! How incredibly gross!!! How could this be????? I am OCD. I am a germ-a-phobe. How could my boy's car seat be so infested with crumbs????

So that is my new low. Nasty, just plain out nasty!!!

Here is are some snapshots from the weekend. Lane decided to wear his Daddy's cap. Isn't it too cute??? Check out those TORE UP feet under the blanket elevated in the background!!
