I'm not who I was

Hey Y'all - I wanted to share this really cool video. The song is great. I had to watch it a few times - to listen to the words of the song and to read the signs in the video.
Take a moment, sit back and turn up your speakers. I think you will enjoy it!
Have a GREAT day!

Lane - the Golfer

So, I thought all the golfing activity would dwindle as the week progressed. But something about it has really stuck with LaneBug. He comes home every afternoon from school and wants to play golf.

Now realize, I don't think he is the next Tiger Woods or anything like that. However, I must be truthful and tell you that it is really astonishing to see how much he has improved in the last few weeks. He will now stand at the ball all poised and line his putter up with it before he hauls back and whacks it. That is a vast improvement from the beginning where he would just run and hit the ball while it was still moving. So I guess watching the TPC did improve his game a little.

Also realize, I am a country girl and some things will never change. This is our indoor "putting green" for Bug. hee hee hee It is pretty redneck looking at first glance but once you get past all the initial one liners that come to your mind, it is a sweet little set up I think.
You have to look close - I have never claimed to be a good photographer - my picture is a little dark (to say the least) but there is an orange ball headed down the hall right for the "hole"!!
A closer look at the "hole".......yep,
those are a pair of Monty's work boots. Lane wanted "a hole" to hit the golf ball in. There again, another improvement from watching all the TPC last week. Before the hole was never a priority for him. So....how do put a hole for golf in your house??? Well, you think outside the "hole" and put some big ole heavy boots at the end of the hallway for him to hit towards. It seems to have worked. Bug will go get Monty's boot out of his closet each night and set them up. And this morning, I had to laugh. Monty wore these boots pictured off to work. Lane and I were being lazy and taking it slow this morning in getting him ready for school (I am off today) and while I was showering, he went and got another pair of Monty's boots for his hole since the usual ones were gone.
Maybe Lane will continue his interest in golf. I am not sure he will be as serious as my favorite golfer, Phil Mickelson though. I remember during one tournament the announcers told the story of how he ran away from home at the age of 3 years old because his Father was going on a weekend golf trip and wouldn't take him! LOL Now, that is seriously LOVING GOLF!!
So, just to conclude my previous post on the TPC, for those of you who don't follow golf, Sergio Garcia won the TPC. Only after a playoff though. It was so funny, when Phil gave him the trophy, Sergio's speech began with thanking Tiger Woods....for not playing the tournament because it made it a lot easier for him to win it. BTW, Tiger is out due to knee surgery.
Later Alligators!

Happy Mother's Day

I know - it was yesterday but actually I did try to post; however, our modem thingy (yes, not really computer savy) was broken so it was a no-go. So although a day, late here are a few thoughts on Motherhood.

I never knew how much I valued taking a shower, tinkling, etc. alone until I became a Mother.

Some days I want to change my "name" after I hear "Mommy" for the gazillionth time.

Crocs + 2 year old = mass amounts of dirt and sand dumped on your floor when they are removed.

I now understand why my Mom was nervous about taking me to the grocery store when I was a toddler. I was forever asking folks about the items in their buggies - sometimes it gets sticky - and now Bug does it to me.

2 year old + crackers = BIG MESS. Gracious, I despise Toast-a-chee crackers now! Those bright orange crumbs will put me in the loony bin soon.

The phrase "shut up" never sounded like bad words until I heard my toddler say them - they are now dirty words and we don't use them anymore.

Legos, tractors and plastic dinosaurs hurt REALLY BAD when they are stepped on - especially in the middle of the night.

My heart breaks when I hear "I want my boo-boo off".

Even though I thought explaining that boys have ooh-oohs and girls don't was a good idea - it seems the topic can come up and out of Bug's mouth at the most inopportune times.

But with all that said, one thing is for certain - I love being a Mommy more than ANYTHING in the world. It is my greatest accomplishment.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY Y'ALL

Learning New Things

I love to learn about new things - kind of nerdy, huh? Well, whatever it is, I still like it. Before I dated and married Monty, I had never watched golf...you know....on TV. It seemed really boring the first few times I watched it with him. But we were dating and all IN LOVE so I watched more for that reason than any other. But it started to perk my interest. Of course, I found the underdog and became his biggest fan.

Enter - Phil Mickelson - the famed Lefty of PGA Tour. Here is a picture of him trying to get out of a bunker....a place he finds himself often.

So this weekend is The Players Championship at Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach. And (to me) this course is the absolute coolest. Now the Masters is steeped in history and that is really neat too. But as far as the course itself - TPC is THE BEST!! The famous 17th Hole is pictured below.

Yep, that is it. You hit off the tee and HOPE your ball lands on this green (island) and once it gets there you then HOPE it does not roll off. These greens are like carpet - man that little ball will just roll forever on them. So needless to say, the players have a L-O-N-G walk from the 16th to 17th hole. I wish they could hook them up on a heart monitor as they approach the 17th tee. It would be interesting to see the heart palpitations!! On Friday's round, it took Phil about 2 1/2 minutes before he would tee off. He was just looking at what lay before him - even the reigning champ from 2007 is very intimidated on this hole.

But he finally smacked it and all was good.

I am still rooting for Phil but right now he is about 13th and about 5 shots from the leader. Anything can happen. Maybe all those ahead of him will hit some double and triple bogeys today and if he can keep it together he could be up in the lead.....maybe.
BTW, I suppose Lane is now interested in golf also. We have been watching each night and last night he told Monty after his bath that he wanted to watch golf. Isn't that cute?? He already knows about birdies, bogeys and bunkers. You know, we are reinforcing the important stuff early on - we will start work on numbers 11-20 and finish memorizing the ABC's after golf season is over and before college football starts back up. LOL

The little things that will drive me to insanity....

....in no particular order:

* Drivers that drive at a reasonable speed in the 4 lane but once the road narrows back to 2 lane, they drive 15 mph slower.
* Not using blinkers on your car.
* Folks who stand in line at a store and wait until EVERYTHING is scanned, bagged and totaled before they locate their money.
* People who leave their buggies (yes, buggy, I am from the South) in the parking lot instead of returning them to the designated areas.
* People who call back our work main line number and say "This number is on my caller ID. Who needed to talk to me?"
* Cashiers that don't look or speak to me during the entire point of sale transaction - much less tell me "Thank You"
* Drive thru window workers (at fast food restaurants) who DON'T give you ANY napkins.

Those are just a few!

Lane's Fav Books

So, a couple of Lane's favorite books are were received through the Ferst Foundation. This is a really neat program www.ferstfoundation.org/ and you should check it out if your child is under the age of 5.

He has ALWAYS loved this one and has had it for over a year now.

Another favorite is Rooster Can't Cock-a-Doodle-Doo. This one drives me crazy but he seems to love it. Monty and I don't fight one another for the priviledge of reading it!

$184,296.92, 2 Worn Out Feet, 1 Dirty Shirt & My New Personal Low Point

Well, as weird as it may seem - all of these numbers have a common thread.
We raised $184,296.92 at Relay this weekend - YAHOO!! It is a new record for the County. I am so proud of all my teams, committee members and community for all the support and hard work. WE ROCK!!!

So....obviously, my 2 feet were TORE UP by Saturday morning when Relay ended at 6AM.

And the dirty shirt.....well.....see for yourself......

So do I need to say, that Bug had a good time at Relay on Friday night? Monty brought him out and he ran and played. He had Fruit Punch to drink (couldn't guess it, could you?) and they decided on BBQ chicken wings for dinner. So......this is what his Monkeying Around shirt looked like after all that and more than a few good rolls in the dirt with his pals Tanner & Dawson who also came out with their Daddy.

And after I scrubbed it with a toothbrush and washed it 3 times, this is what it looks like now.

Well, I was impressed anyway.

Sunday was a day of more relaxation and a new approach on things. I could finally do some things I have been needing to do. Top on my list was cleaning out my truck. I have hauled boxes of Relay "stuff" for about 6 or 7 months. Backing up the truck usually included straining to see over boxes stacked up and the constant rattle of yard signs was about to produce a nervous twitch. But we unloaded everything at my office Saturday and so Sunday was my day to act out my plan of attack. I took out Bug's car seat, wiped down the leather seats, vacuumed out about a gazillion cracker crumbs and then....I saw it. It ruined my moment of glory. The high I was feeling on cleaning out my truck was shattered...................................

.........................the neighbor's dog was eating all the gazillion cracker crumbs from out of Bug's car seat. UGH! How incredibly gross!!! How could this be????? I am OCD. I am a germ-a-phobe. How could my boy's car seat be so infested with crumbs????

So that is my new low. Nasty, just plain out nasty!!!

Here is are some snapshots from the weekend. Lane decided to wear his Daddy's cap. Isn't it too cute??? Check out those TORE UP feet under the blanket elevated in the background!!
